Family Fun

With all of the Christmas preparation over we finally took some days to play together as a family, something that doesn't happen very often since Eddie and I have opposite days off right now.

On Tuesday the weather was gorgeous so we headed to the zoo. We took Nate last year for his birthday and knew he would love it since he knows the names of so many animals now. Most of the animals were snoozing, but we still had fun. We fed the goats twice. The first time Nate had to be held, but the second time he walked right in with no fear. We also fed some emus and miscellanous birds that were wandering around.

A vulture. Quite an interesting looking bird.

Emus

We fed the emus twice. This video is from the first time. The second time we let Nate hold the cup and the emus heads were only inches from his. Good thing they didn't bite.

That evening we picked up my dad and met my mom over at the Ethel M. Chocolate Factory to see the cactus garden all decorated with lights. It was beautiful! It was hard to get any good pictures that really show was a spectacular sight it was. We will definitely have to add this to our to do list at Christmastime.

The whole time we were there we could hear and see planes flying overhead getting ready to land at the airport close by. Nate was fascinated so Eddie and I took Nate to the parking lot on Sunset where you can watch planes land on our way home. It was a great day.

The next day we loaded everybody up for a trip to Mt. Charleston so we could play in the snow. We had to go all the way up by Lee Canyon since there wasn't very much snow at the base of the mountain like last year. Nate loved the snow and didn't seem to mind falling down. He even decided to eat some. The dogs had fun bounding around as usual. We found a snowman someone had made and had to go see it twice since Nate liked it so much. I'm glad he got over his snow aversion from last year.
