Spartan Race

Yesterday Eddie raced in the Spartan Race, which is an 8 mile course with about 20 obstacles. This is similar to Tough Mudder, which he's done twice before. Nate was going to race in the kid's race that morning but he made the unfortunate decision to pee on the wall and floor in his bedroom and lost that privilege. That was a bigger bummer for us, I think, than him. Nate and I went around to a few of the obstacles to catch Daddy on camera. It ended up being a pretty warm day after all.The race was out behind the Speedway where there is nothing but dirt. Not a single plant in sight. Long day outside, but it was fun.

Some pre-race fun

Waiting for Daddy to start.

Making climbing up a very slippery wall look easy (according to the lady behind me).

Last obstacle before the finish line. Unfortunately I did not catch him jumping over the flames. Don't worry. He was soaking wet at this point.

Watching Eddie and all these people do this race almost makes me want to start training to do a shorter version of this...almost. I'm pretty wimpy. :)

Other than our usual outdoor adventures, we have decided that since Walking Dead is over for now we would do a month of no TV. That means no TV and no movies. We dont watch that much TV to start with so it's not a big deal. Nate is participating too. He just doesn't really know it yet. I did cheat once and let Nate watch a half hour show one afternoon because I wasn't feeling well. It's been nice because we have both been reading more and going to bed earlier.

I have also been reading and listening to audios about an educational philosophy called Thomas Jefferson Education or Leadership Education. I only know a little so far, but I really like it. A lot of it matches with our views of what we want for Nate. I have been reading widely about different philosophies since we lived in Reno to prepare for starting Kinder with Nate in September. I like bits and pieces of different ones, but this one really feels like it fits. I'm doing a self-guided course about this philosophy which includes reading several books about TJED as well as reading several classics. I'm excited because I really do like taking classes. I'll share more about this later once I have a better grasp on what all it entails.

I've been busy the last few days doing doTERRA classes and things with a friend from Reno who is visiting Vegas to do classes. It's been go, go, go lately. I'm not sure if it will ever calm down. One of these days I just need to clear our schedule for a week and take a break.
