A Day For Me

Work has been very stressful lately, and it seemed like it was all I could do to make it to Spring Break in one piece. Well I made it, and I'm enjoying the break immensely even though it's only a week. I decided to treat myself to a pedicure at the salon where I get my eyebrows done. I haven't had a pedi in years. It was an hour of pure bliss this morning as I got pampered. My toes are looking pretty now and I feel nice and relaxed.
I'd been wanting to go shopping for a new warm weather clothes. I didn't really have any shorts or capris or anything other than jeans and skirts. The nice weather demanded new clothes. So I went to the Gap and got a little carried away. It's expensive stuff, but it lasts. Here are a few of my new outfits. I got the 2 pairs of Bermuda shorts and some some different tops. I got 4 different colored tank tops that can go with the brown sweater and a gray t-shirt. I also got a tan, shiny shirt with a tie and ruffled sleeves. Now it's time to go through my short sleeve shirts and get rid of the ratty ones.
This last picture is of some flowers I planted a few weeks ago. The weather was getting nice and I really wanted something pretty by our front door instead of a dead poky plant we never moved from the previous owners. It's called a Lavender Trailing Lantana. It smells great when it's blooming. Hopefully I can keep it alive. I'm also trying to grow some herbs in the house. The cilantro didn't make it and the parsley is struggling, but the rosemary, thyme and a Thai chili plant are doing really well. I don't have a green thumb, but I try every so often.
Eddie and I are continuing to work on our top secret project, although Eddie is doing most of the work at this point. He is planning to go back to work on Friday and hopefully do light duty for a little while so he doesn't hurt his back any more. I'll be back to work on Monday for 3 weeks of testing, and them I'm free for the next 3 1/2 weeks. I am looking forward to May. For now I will enjoy my new clothes and pretty toes and my break.
Happy Easter!

Nothing New or Exciting, but Here's Something Anyway

So I blogged before about wanting a new bookcase because my little one was overflowing. Mom suggested that I look on Craig's List (thanks Mom) and I found one instantly. It is the same style as my small one just 4x bigger. I put it in the same place as my smaller one. It fits perfectly. I've still got some room to grow, but it's getting full already. I brought a bunch of books home from my classroom library that I want to keep. I've got probably 300 books at school that are in decent shape that I will sort through one more time and then give the rest to another teacher. Books get pretty trashed after being read over and over through the years.

I have to say that I am very happy about my decision to quit teaching in August. I can hardly wait until my last day. Work has been stressful with our big state test coming up and the overkill on test prep we are required to do. Stress and several sick kids in my class has helped me acquire a nasty cough and what is most likely a sinus infection. I'm trying to beat it on my own, and hopefully now that it's Spring Break I can take it easy and get better. I was in desperate need of a break. Luckily I made it through the week in one piece. I am especially looking forward to my track break in May because I will be done with testing for the year, 2nd trimester report cards will be done and I can kick back and relax for almost a month.
This blog is mostly about me since I'm writing it, but that is quite self-centered of me since I am married. Eddie is taking a few weeks off of work due to a back injury. He has a stress fracture and compressed vertebrae (or something) that has been aggravating him for a month. He is going to the chiropractor several times a week and icing it daily. Wearing his belt and sitting in his car all day at work was making it worse so he's home, and I've been seeing a lot of him. He has been working on a little "project", which I will tell everyone more about it anything comes of it. Ha ha, nothing like a little teaser.
