Little Bean Update

I had my appointment with the perinatologist yesterday to discuss the blood clotting gene I have. I had another ultrasound. We saw the heartbeat again, but also got to hear it this time beating strongly at 185 bpm. Since I have no other problems with clotting the Dr. decided baby aspirin should be enough unless something changes. That was good news because baby aspirin is cheap and doesn't require an injection. Hopefully the little bean will be healthy and growing so I don't need different medication.

Eddie and I went to the Springs Preserve yesterday with Mom, and the St. Louis Grandparents. It was a nice day. This is a picture of me at 9 weeks to use as a comparision for my changing baby body over the next 7 months. Not much change yet.

The Cat is Out of the Bag

Now that the big announcement has been made I can finally get back to blogging more often. There wasn't much to blog about since I couldn't talk about being pregnant until Mom's graduation party where we announced to quite a bit of family that I'm expecting. So here are the facts:

Due Date - December 13th - December is going to be an expensive month with our anniversary and Christmas and probably a birthday.

How many - Just 1

Boy or girl - I'm only 8 weeks right now so I don't find that out for another 2 months

Misc. - I got myself tested to find out if I have the same mutant blood clotting gene that Dad does, and I do. I have one gene, which puts me at a 4-8 times increased risk of having blod clots. Not great news, but it's better than having 2 genes with a 50-100 times increased risk. So I've been referred to a perinatologist, who will ultimately decided if I need medication or not. For now I'm taking 1 baby aspirin a day. Hopefully I won't need additional medication. My appointment is on Wednesday, so I'll update everyone after that.

How do I feel - I don't look pregnant and probably won't for a bit, but feeling nauseous on a regular basis tells me that I am. Luckily I'm not working for the next few weeks, and hopefully that will pass and I feel a little better so I can get through my last 2 1/2 months of school.

Pictures - I had an ultrasound on Thursday and we saw a heartbeat, a head, body, and little arms and legs. The picture the doctor printed doesn't show all of the detail. Our baby just looks like a little blob in the picture so it's not really worth sharing at this point.

Eddie is excited and all of the soon-to-be grandparents are quite excited as well. 32 weeks to go...

Great Book

This month my book club read Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay. I couldn't put it down, which resulted in me reading the entire thing in a 24-hour time period.

It is set in France during WWII. It is historical fiction about a little remembered or spoken about event where thousands of French Jews were rounded up. It bounces back and forth between 1942 and the present. Excellent story. I highly recommend it to anyone.

Nothing of interest to report. I am on track break and enjoying the time off. Eddie is on light duty at work because of his back and still working with the chiropractor to resolve a bulging disc. We are enjoying warmer weather and hoping it doesn't get scorching hot too soon. That's all for now.
