I took the day off of work to celebrate Nate's birthday, and it worked out that Eddie was off, my mom took the day off and Eddie's parents were free too. We really wanted to take him to the zoo again, but decided it was a little too chilly to do that. We planned to take him to the Natural History Museum that had recently been moved to the Springs Preserve, but didn't find out until we got there that it's only open a few days a week and that day wasn't one of them. So we decided to take Nate through the Origins museum instead. We were one of 3 families there so we pretty much had the place to ourselves. Nate had lots of fun pushing the buttons and looking at the animals and insects and just running all over the place. We also discovered that they have a playground at the Spring Preserve that has a train and a giant snake.

We had lunch at the Springs Preserve and then returned home with Grandma and Grandpa Blubaugh to open presents. Nate got a tool set from Mommy and Daddy and a big boy bike from Grandma and Grandpa.
I made birthday cookies this year since Nate doesn't seem to like cake very much. He was obsessed with the candles and did a decent job blowing them out.
Grandma and Grandpa Atwood came over for dinner after Nate's nap so we could do presents with them. Nate cracked us all up when he decided to use his saw that he had gotten earlier to open his presents. We let Nate blow out candles on a cookie again for Grandma and Grandpa that evening. Many of Nate's presents were Cars themed since he loves Mater and Lightning McQueen. He got a blanket and pillow that he likes to lay on when he watches a movie and a Mater pillow pet. I also got him a big Cars balloon for his birthday that he carried around non-stop for the first day.

It was a great day for sure, and I think Nate had a lot of fun even though he doesn't understand birthdays yet.
