Swimming Lessons

We signed Nate up for a 4 week parent/child swimming class through the YMCA. Hopefully we'll learn some things to help Nate learn to swim or be more comfortable in the water and have some fun.

Eddie and I both went thinking we'd take turns in the water with him each week, but since the class is all mommies I got in with Nate and Eddie took pictures. Nate likes the water, but he's been super cranky and hard to please lately since he's cutting another molar. That made this first lesson interesting for sure, but at the end Nate said he had fun. Nate cried for the last 10 minutes or so, but he wasn't the only kid crying. Luckily the adults weren't crying too.

There is a song for everything in the class, which Nate liked. He complained when the singing stopped. We tried to teach him to blow bubbles in the water, I dunked him under once, we practiced kicking feet (he's got that), we practiced "swimming" to the edge and climbing out. He totally refused the noodle and told me to give it back to the swim teacher. He pretty much wanted to do the opposite of anything we were doing, but we survived. Hopefully next week he won't be so cranky. We'll have to practice in between lessons at Grandma and Grandpa's community pool.
